Trae Young next to Anthony Davis
The Washington Wizards may have finished last season with the worst overall record in the NBA, but there is plenty of reason for optimism heading into the 2026-27 season. Aside from getting the No. 1 overall pick in the draft and selecting potential franchise cornerstone AJ Dybantsa, the Wizards will trot out a star duo of Anthony Davis and Trae Young.
Both players were acquired last season ahead of the trade deadline, but due to injury, the Wizards never got to see Anthony Davis and Trae Young together on the court at all. Young was able to make his debut but Davis did not suit up in a single game after being acquired.
With NBA training camps set to open in just a little over two months, the duo has already gotten to work playing together during training at the new PLYRS UNTD facility run by the NBPA in Los Angeles.
Young appeared in a total of five games last season for the Wizards at a little over 20 minutes per game. He averaged 15.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists with splits of 59.5 percent shooting from the field, 42.9 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 70.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line. He played in only 15 games total between the Atlanta Hawks and Wizards due to multiple injury concerns.
Davis, on the other hand, appeared in a total of 20 games with the Dallas Mavericks prior to the trade, at a little over 31 minutes per game. He averaged 20.4 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocked shots with splits of 50.6 percent shooting from the field, 27 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 72.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
