The Washington Wizards are among the teams expected to have a significant presence at Ben Simmons’ minicamp with fellow Australian players as he pursues an NBA comeback. There is also a strong hint that the Philadelphia 76ers could be in the mix as the former NBA star looks to return to the league.
Ben Simmons finds himself with a lot to prove at his upcoming minicamp, wherein several figures with NBA connections will be present to determine whether he has what it takes to earn another opportunity to play again in the league.
On NBA Today, ESPN insider Marc J. Spears revealed that the Washington Wizards are among the teams expected to have a significant presence at Simmons’ minicamp with fellow Australian players as he pursues an NBA comeback.
As Spears wrapped up his report, he also flashed a “67” gesture that Malika Andrews noticed, offering a potentially intriguing hint about the Philadelphia 76ers.
"Well, he does have an offer from a West team to come to a training camp, a non-guaranteed offer. I think he’s hoping if he plays well in this camp with coaches like [Adam] Caporn from the Wizards and other people with NBA ties at this camp, that perhaps could lead to something else, as a couple other teams are interested," Spears confessed.
"So, I think maybe he’ll have an option soon that he really likes."

Ben Simmons to attend Australia minicamp, sets up for NBA comeback
On Sunday, it was revealed that Ben Simmons is expected to be a full participant with “zero restrictions” in a player-led Australia men’s national team minicamp in Melbourne, where he reportedly paid to join the event.
Several NBA teams have expressed interest in Simmons’ camp, including one Western Conference team that offered a training camp invite.
It has been noted that Simmons is open to signing a veteran's minimum contract as a free agent and is determined to join the Boomers in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Simmons last played in the 2024-25 NBA season as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. The former NBA star took a full 2025-26 season break to recover from his injuries.
The No. 1 pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, Simmons was one of the league's brightest stars and all-around wonders. He is a three-time All-Star, two-time All-Defensive Team member, an All-NBA team member, and the 2017-18 Rookie of the Year winner before back injuries and reported mental health issues have completely disrupted his career.
Simmons notably had an embattled standoff and infamous breakup with the Philadelphia 76ers back in 2021-22. But now, plenty of reports suggest he would be open to reuniting with his former team.
Meanwhile, as they are set to take off next season with Anthony Davis, Trae Young, Alex Sarr, and reigning No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa, the Washington Wizards' presence in Simmons' Aussie camp should be interesting.
As he remains determined to return to the NBA, Simmons has a chip on his shoulder to prove he deserves another shot.
