Amid Monta Ellis' controversial claims, Jeff Teague believes that replacing Steph Curry with Damian Lillard will surely give the Warriors the same championship results.
Former NBA star Monta Ellis notably raised eyebrows with a recent controversial take on Stephen Curry, claiming the Golden State Warriors would have enjoyed similar dynastic success if he had been in Curry’s position.
Like anybody else, Jeff Teague boldly disagreed with Ellis' notion, although he sees Damian Lillard as a perfect example that could only replicate Curry's success in the Bay Area.
“He was never better than Steph," Teague said of Ellis on his Club 520 Podcast.
" ... If you say, 'Aight we're going to take off Steph Curry and put Dame Lillard to the Warriors,' then I would be like, okay, I could see they get the same results, probably.”
Is Damian Lillard truly comparable to Stephen Curry?
For years, Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard have been frequently compared to each other as two all-time great guards who helped redefine the point guard role with their jaw-dropping long-range shooting and offensive dynamics.
While Lillard is simply phenomenal, especially during his prime with the Portland Trail Blazers, it still needs to be acknowledged that Curry is on another level.

In their individual and team matchups, Curry has dominated Lillard. The Warriors outlasted the Trail Blazers in the second round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs and swept them in both the first round of the 2017 postseason and the 2019 Western Conference Finals
In the end, Golden State can't ask for a better franchise centerpiece than Curry, as the future Hall of Famer gave the Warriors relevance in the league's modern era.
