LeBron James and his soon-to-be 22-year-old son Bronny are venturing into two different areas. The elder James will now play for the Philadelphia 76ers. Meanwhile, the young Bronny will play his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers without his father by his side.

In a recent Boardroom Talk conversation with Rich Kleiman, LeBron humorously referred to Bronny as his “former teammate” now and had quite the time reconciling with that, per Hoop Central.

“I have an almost 22-year-old son who is now my former teammate, which is hilarious,” James said.

Bronny has already played two high-profile seasons with the Lakers. In 2024, Bronny's addition sent shockwaves throughout the NBA. Some even accused LeBron of nepotism. But in both seasons, the Lakers made it to the postseason, and Bronny has shown some potential. Last season, Bronny averaged 2.9 points and 8.9 minutes per game.

His father completed his tenure in Los Angeles in mid-summer by declaring for free agency. As a result, numerous teams stood in line for a shot at LeBron James. But it was the 76ers' gain that turned everyone else's pain into gain.

Overall, LeBron played eight seasons with the Lakers. He led them to an NBA championship in 2020. Now, LeBron is looking to win with Philadelphia, possibly. If he does, he will stand out in NBA history as a player who won everywhere he played.

Bronny is going to have to adjust not only to his father not being there, but to an LA team revolving around Luka Doncic.
