TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Tre White went undrafted this summer. But that hasn’t stopped the former Kansas guard from making an impression in Miami.
White played for the Heat in Summer League, averaging 16.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2 assists per game.
Remy Ndiaye, a Miami Heat player development specialist, saw firsthand what White brought to the gym.
“He’s a great kid,” Ndiaye told 13 SPORTS. “We had him for the Summer League in Vegas. And since he got there, he showed how to work. Very smart kid.”
“And he was the first one in the gym and always wanted to get extra rep afterward.”
For an undrafted player trying to carve out a place in the NBA, that work matters.
“They just got to put in work. And then whenever the chance comes, it will be right there,” Ndiaye continued.
And White’s approach didn’t surprise Ndiaye.
“When I saw that he was from KU and I saw that attitude and the hard work, I wasn’t surprised. So, I was really excited to have him.”
White is now hoping that work leads to an NBA roster spot.
