Tottenham have suffered a blow in the pursuit of a highly-rated La Liga forward.
Tottenham Hotspur have been trying their best to bring in attacking reinforcements. It’s no secret that Spurs have been on the hunt for a new No.9 for weeks and months, although their main focus early in the transfer window was on improving the defence and midfield.
With over £230million spent to address the glaring problems in the aforementioned positions, the N17 bosses are now looking at adding multiple attacking recruits before the September 1 transfer deadline. And Dominic Solanke’s recent injury concern that saw him miss the Getafe friendly has only speeded up the striker hunt.
Tottenham target staying at Real Madrid
Spurs have been linked with Real Madrid talent Endrick in recent weeks. The Spanish giants have been contemplating sending Endrick out on loan again to help aid his development, catching the attention of Tottenham among several clubs across Europe.
The Brazilian sensation joined Lyon on loan in the second half of last season and took Ligue 1 by storm, bagging five goals and seven assists in 16 Ligue 1 matches. After his 2026 World Cup duties, he has returned to Real Madrid to get clarity over his future. And now it seems he has got one from his club.
According to a report from The Athletic, the €40m Endrick is set to stay at Real Madrid. The decision has been made by new head coach Jose Mourinho and the club officials. A situation might change in January, and he could be loaned out then if the forward fails to get regular minutes in the first half of the upcoming season.
If the Brazilian international were to depart, a move to the Premier League would be a priority to continue his development at the highest level. If Real Madrid opt for a move, they would be willing to consider only a straight loan with no option or obligation to buy, as he is viewed as a top talent with massive potential.

One of the most exciting young talents in world football, Endrick must play regularly to unlock his true potential. He can play through the middle and out wide, and such flexibility, coupled with his technical skills, movement, spatial awareness, vision and ball-striking ability, makes him an ideal fit for De Zerbi’s possession-based, aggressive and attacking system.
However, Madrid’s decision to keep the South American talent should come as a blow for Tottenham. The 20-year-old could have been a fine option to operate in attacking areas of the pitch and add goals, creativity, flair and directness. With a decision on Endrick’s future having been taken, Spurs should now shift their focus elsewhere if they are serious about strengthening their attacking ranks.
