Kawhi Leonard remains in limbo due to the issues surrounding his tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers traded him to the Toronto Raptors in July, but the deal was put on hold after the NBA launched an investigation into his possible involvement in the team's alleged circumvention of the salary cap.
It was initially reported that the probe could stretch until next year. However, The Stein Line's Jake Fischer claimed, citing sources, that it is “closer to completion,” which would allow Leonard to join the Raptors in time for training camp in September.
In the meantime, it appears that the 35-year-old Leonard is unbothered by the controversies. He was spotted watching the match between Naomi Osaka and Elena Rybakina at the National Bank Open in Toronto.

Aside from his supposed involvement with Aspiration, a now-defunct investment company, Leonard allegedly had a lucrative sponsorship with Daktronics, which supplied the Clippers with the jumbotron at Intuit Dome. The claim is that Daktronics was also used to funnel money to the two-time Finals MVP.
Leonard has stayed mum amid the issues, although he has denied any wrongdoing.
The Clippers shipped the seven-time All-Star to the Raptors in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, and draft capital. But Leonard's reunion with Toronto, which he led to the championship in 2019 during his one-season stint, will have to wait.
Last season, he averaged a career-high 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals in 65 games, his second-most in eight years. He shot 50.5% from the field, including 38.7% from long distance.
Osaka, meanwhile, beat Sabalenka in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).
