Yaxel Lendeborg makes bold Stephen Curry promise

Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg has made a bold prediction about Stephen Curry, backing his new teammate to eventually become the greatest player in NBA history.

Lendeborg already considers Curry one of the three greatest players ever, but believes another championship would move the Warriors legend to the top of his list.

"Where do you rank Steph all-time? Top 3," Lendeborg said while streaming. "After Steph get this ring this year, he finna be number 1, don't worry."

Lendeborg joined Golden State as the No. 11 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft after an impressive final college season at Michigan. The 6'9" (2.06m) forward averaged 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.1 steals while earning Big Ten Player of the Year honors and helping Michigan win the NCAA championship.

His strong year continued after the draft. Lendeborg was named 2026 NBA Summer League MVP after averaging 14.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals while leading the Warriors to the Summer League title. He became the first Golden State player to win the award.

The 23-year-old is considered one of the more NBA-ready prospects from his draft class because of his defensive versatility, size, passing, and ability to contribute without requiring a major offensive role.

Lendeborg believes Curry has another title in him

Curry has already won four NBA championships, two MVP awards, and the 2022 Finals MVP while establishing himself as the NBA's all-time leader in made three-pointers.

A fifth championship at this stage of his career would add another major accomplishment to Curry's resume, and Lendeborg clearly expects the Warriors to contend immediately.

After winning championships at Michigan and in Summer League in the same calendar year, the rookie will now get an opportunity to help Curry chase another one at the NBA level.
