Heat predicted to sign $342M elite shooter, 14-year veteran to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo image
The NBA offseason is still on fire, especially on Wednesday with the Los Angeles Lakers changing ownership once again in less than a year. However, free agency is still heating up just as well with several names left on the board.
Bradley Beal is a veteran that is gaining some serious interest from around the league. He declined his player option for the upcoming season.
“LA Clippers guard Bradley Beal has declined his $5.6 million player option for next season and will become an unrestricted free agent. Beal signed with the Clippers last summer but the guard played in only six games after suffering a fracture in his left hip that required season-ending surgery. Beal averaged career lows of 8.2 points and 20.2 minutes per game while shooting 36.8% from 3," ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk wrote.
Since becoming a free agent, the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics have had serious interest in Beal.
“The Celtics and Heat expressed recent interest in signing Bradley Beal on a veteran's minimum deal. Beal, who missed most of last season with a hip fracture, would like to join a title contender in the final few years of his career," NBA Evan Sidery wrote.
Bleacher Report’s Mike Chiari believes that the 14-year veteran will end up signing with Miami.
“Beal was once considered to be among the NBA's best scorers during his 11-year run with the Washington Wizards, particularly from 2016 to 2023 when he averaged 25.5 points per game. A move to Miami could make a lot of sense, though, as the Heat are in search of shooting to complement the star duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. While there is a good chance Beal would have to come off the bench in Miami, he could potentially provide the type of offensive spark the Heat need, as long as he can stay healthy,” Chiari wrote.
Beal is an absolute scorer, there is no denying it, but he has had a career defined by injuires. Miami is hoping to keep him healthy so he can flourish with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
Beal has made $342 million in contracts throughout his career. He is hoping to prove that he still has it this season. The career long battle with injuries is going to be what makes or breaks his season once again.
