MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Flag Family Media) - The date has been officially set. The Minnesota Timberwolves will be retiring franchise legend Kevin Garnett’s No. 21 jersey during the 2026-27 season.
KG will have his No. 21 jersey hung into the rafters at Target Center on Sunday, February 28 against the Boston Celtics during a pregame ceremony. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. and will be nationally televised on NBC. Garnett’s No. 21 will be the second number retired by the franchise, joining Malik Sealy’s No. 2. The Timberwolves also have FLIP in the rafters, honoring the franchise’s legendary former head coach along with Bill Russell’s No. 6 that has been retired across the entire NBA.

Garnett’s jersey retirement ceremony on Feb. 28 will be surrounded by a handful of other theme night’s honoring the franchise icon including December 16 vs LA Lakers on ESPN (1995 Draft Night), January 29 vs Charlotte Hornets on ESPN (2003 All-Star MVP Night), March 14 vs Washington Wizards (2004 NBA MVP Night), and March 28 vs Oklahoma City Thunder on NBC (2004 Western Conference Finals Night). The Timberwolves are offering a five-game flex pack for the upcoming season surrounding the Kevin Garnett celebrations.
The Big Ticket was drafted No. 5 overall by the T-Wolves in the 2995 NBA Draft. KG is the franchise leader in nearly all statistical categories including games played (970), points (19,201), assists (4,216), steals (1,315), offensive rebounds (2,588), defensive rebounds (8,130), total rebounds (10,718), blocks (1,590), field goals made (7,647), and free throw made (3,743). Garnett also still hold the franchise record in many playoff statistics the include steals (63), defensive rebounds (492), total rebounds (628), and blocks (88).
Garnett played in 21 NBA seasons from 1995-2016. 14 of those seasons he repping a Timberwolves while he spent six years in Boston and just under two seasons in Brooklyn. Throughout his NBA career, Garnett played in 1,462 with 1,425 starts while also playing in 970 games with The Pack. Throughout his career, the forward averaged a double-double with 17.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while in the NBA.
KG was an All-Star 15 times, 10 of which came in a Wolves jersey. Some of his career accolades included being named to the All-Rookie Team in 1996, named the 2003 All-Star Game MVP, 2004 NBA MVP, and 2008 Defensive Player of the Year. He also was named to an All-Defensive Team 12 times, was named Al-NBA nine times, won the rebounding title four times, and was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
The 2008 NBA Champion also has his No. 5 jersey retired by the Boston Celtics.
