Knicks guard Jalen Brunson celebrates with the Finals MVP trophy
The Basketball Hall of Fame welcomes its 2026 class Saturday night. Amar’e Stoudemire, Doc Rivers and Mike D’Antoni give the ceremony a strong New York connection.
It also gives Knicks fans a reason to think about the next name from this era. Jalen Brunson is only 29, but his Hall of Fame case no longer needs a projection.

He has already done enough.
Jalen Brunson gave the Knicks the missing award
Brunson had the individual resume before June. He is a three-time All-Star, a three-time All-NBA selection, a Clutch Player of the Year, an Eastern Conference finals MVP and an NBA Cup MVP.
The championship changed how the entire list is viewed.
Brunson scored 45 points in Game 5 against San Antonio, closed the series and lifted the Finals MVP trophy. He did not ride along with a more famous superstar. He was the best player on the team that won the title.
That matters. Hall of Fame debates often get stuck on longevity and career totals. Brunson will add plenty of both if he stays healthy, but the peak is already there.
The Knicks watched Brunson finish the argument
There is college history too. Brunson won two national championships at Villanova and was the national player of the year in 2018. The Basketball Hall of Fame evaluates the full career rather than NBA counting stats alone.
Calling an active 29-year-old a lock feels premature to some people, but the resume says otherwise.
Brunson has the team success, individual awards, signature postseason run and a title-clinching game that will be replayed for decades. Many players reach Springfield without owning that complete package.
The only concern around him this summer is his surgically repaired wrist, and the Knicks are right to protect him instead of chasing opening night. That injury does not change what he has already accomplished.
Brunson still has years to build the case higher. He does not need those years to make it valid. The championship settled it.
