LeBron James' free agency this offseason sparked a frenzy across the NBA, with many teams and players personally recruiting the four-time MVP to join them. But as far as Cade Cunningham is concerned, he admitted that he did not pay much attention to the possibility of James considering Detroit.
In his recent appearance on Sports Seriously, the Pistons superstar dismissed the idea of calling James and pitching Detroit as his next destination.
"I didn't give LeBron a call," Cunningham said. "I don't think he would have cared to hear what I had to say about it.
"He's doing what he wants to do at this point. I'm not mad at that. It is what it is, so good for him."
LeBron James joins 76ers, emerges as new rival for Cade Cunningham-led Pistons
LeBron James became an offseason focus upon informing the Los Angeles Lakers that he will not return as an unrestricted free agent. With several top suitors emerging from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Philadelphia 76ers ultimately secured the future Hall of Famer's commitment.
By signing James to a two-year, $8 million deal, the 76ers have built a formidable team headlined by Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and new star Jaylen Brown.
If anything, Cade Cunningham is even more excited to see James returning to the East and serving as a new opponent for the Detroit Pistons.
Beyond James, Cunningham already denied claims that he recruited several other stars to join Detroit this offseason amid multiple reports.
With the additions of John Collins and Isaiah Joe, Cunningham and the Pistons are set to run it back following their massive 60-win season.
