La Liga giants Real Madrid have early this week announced the departure of an up-and-coming member of the club’s attacking ranks.

This comes amid confirmation of youngster Jacobo Ortega putting pen to paper on terms with French outfit RC Strasbourg.

Frontman Jacobo had for his part emerged as a prominent figure in the media headlines surrounding Real Madrid over the last couple of weeks. Despite having never taken to the pitch at senior level, the 20-year-old’s exploits with Los Blancos’ reserves last season were rumoured to have piqued the interest of a number of clubs across Europe.

The aforementioned Strasbourg, on the hunt for reinforcements up top, therefore recently moved to beat out the competition by opening official talks with the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu.

And as alluded to above, on Monday, these discussions have borne fruit for all parties involved. As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:

‘Real Madrid CF and RC Strasbourg Alsace have agreed to the transfer of our player Jacobo Ortega. Real Madrid will always be his home and thanks Jacobo Ortega for his dedication during all these years he has been part of our club. Real Madrid wishes him and his family all the best in this new stage of his life.’

Comunicado Oficial: Jacobo Ortega.

Real Madrid are understood to have secured around €10 million for 70% of Jacobo’s playing rights.
