Cooper Flagg currently enjoys the most out of his 2026 offseason with the Dallas Mavericks, where he has already spent significant time in the gym with Kyrie Irving.
As he explained that ball handling, shot creation, and shooting were most of the skills he honed this summer, the Mavericks sensation revealed that he also picked the brains of Irving, who is now healthy heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.
"Being able to get in the gym with Kyrie this offseason, he's back healthy," Flagg said. "Kyrie is obviously one of the greats, so just to be able to share the floor with him and learn from him on the fly and be able to go out there and compete, it's gonna be a lot of fun."
Cooper Flagg, Kyrie Irving finally set to play as teammates in Dallas
Anticipation is high across the Dallas fanbase and the entire NBA for the Mavericks' upcoming season, as this would finally show Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving on the court as teammates.
Both stars have yet to play together, as Irving notably missed the whole 2025-26 season due to his recovery from a torn ACL.
Despite trade rumors and a change in franchise leadership with the arrival of Masai Ujiri and Dusty May as the new head coach, the Mavs have maintained their commitment to Irving and his future in Dallas.
Right after his historic first NBA season to win the Rookie of the Year, Flagg simply can't wait to begin the 2026-27 season with Irving and the Mavericks.
"I'm excited, Flagg said. "Obviously, it's my first year under my belt and I'm excited to get back to playing games and improve a lot.
"Excited for what we can do and continue to get better."
