Villa have confirmed the signings of defender Matteo Ruggeri and goalkeeper Zion Suzuki in deals worth close to a combined £50million.
Ruggeri has joined from Atletico Madrid for a fee of around £17m, with Suzuki arriving from Parma for a deal which could eventually be worth around £30m.
The Japan international is viewed as the long-term replacement for Emi Martinez, who could leave the club before the end of the transfer window.
Villa are also close to completing the loan signing of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham.
The trio of signings will join Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Alejandro Garnacho as the club’s new arrivals this summer and the business will not stop there, with talks ongoing over a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Boss Unai Emery would also like to add another winger before the September 1 deadline, while question marks hang over the futures of two star players in Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins.
Konsa is the subject of interest from Premier League champions Arsenal, while Villa have rejected a bid worth nearly £40m from Al-Hilal for Watkins.
Villa kick-off their season at Brighton on Sunday.
