Maxima Roma have officially announced the signing of former NBA guard Aaron Holiday, adding another high-profile name ahead of the new season.
Holiday arrives in Italy after spending last season with the Houston Rockets and will now begin the first European chapter of his career.
The 29-year-old point guard was selected with the No. 23 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers and has since represented the Pacers, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks and Rockets.
Known for his three-point shooting, ability to attack the rim and defensive intensity, Holiday gives Roma an experienced backcourt option with significant NBA experience.

Holiday chose Europe despite NBA interest
According to the club, Holiday had interest from several NBA teams but ultimately decided to join Maxima Roma and take on the challenge of playing in Europe.
"I am extremely proud to join Maxima Roma and take on my first challenge in European basketball," Holiday said.
"For me and my family, this represents an important step and an exciting opportunity because I immediately felt the great confidence the club has in me and the serious ambition behind this project."
Holiday also emphasized that he wants to bring the mentality he developed in the NBA to his new team.
"Having played at the highest level in the NBA motivates me to bring that winning mentality, leadership and intensity here every single day," he said.
"Competing in both Serie A and the EuroCup provides a demanding stage where we can build something special and fight to win trophies across Europe."
Holiday excited for new chapter in Rome
Holiday also spoke about the appeal of playing in the Italian capital.
"Rome is an iconic city with passionate fans who deserve basketball at the highest level," he said.
"I can't wait to start working with the coaching staff and my new teammates to establish our identity, impose our tempo on both ends of the floor and win games."
Holiday has already started the visa process and is expected to arrive in Rome in the coming days.
