Luka Doncic is preparing an elaborate welcome for his Los Angeles Lakers teammates as nearly the entire roster heads to Slovenia for his offseason minicamp.
According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, Doncic is chartering a private plane for 14 people and has organized a number of activities designed to bring the new-look Lakers closer together ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The trip will include gift bags filled with Slovenian items, dinner at one of Luka's favorite restaurants, fishing at Lake Bled, golf and other team-bonding activities.
"It starts off with Luka chartering a plane for 14 people," Shelburne said on ESPN Los Angeles, adding that additional gifts are expected to be waiting for the players once they arrive at the hotel.
Lakers to spend Aug. 20-24 in Slovenia
Doncic's minicamp is scheduled to take place in Ljubljana from Aug. 20-24, with ESPN previously describing it as a four-day gathering designed to extend his time in Slovenia while allowing the Lakers to begin building chemistry before official training camp.
The basketball portion will be combined with a significant amount of time away from the court.
Shelburne said the group is expected to visit one of Doncic's favorite restaurants before going fishing at Lake Bled, one of Slovenia's best-known destinations.
Golf is also on the itinerary, with Austin Reaves already joking publicly about wanting to beat Doncic during the trip.
"It's a long trip to go on with your team," Shelburne said while discussing the extensive bonding planned around the minicamp.
Almost entire Lakers roster will attend
Nearly every player on the Lakers' roster has committed to making the trip.
Previous reporting indicated that 16 of the 17 Lakers players other than Doncic were expected to attend, including Austin Reaves, Walker Kessler and Bronny James, as well as the team's two-way players.
Sandro Mamukelashvili is expected to join the group separately, with Shelburne noting that he is currently in Georgia.
The lone absence will be Lakers rookie Cam Carr.
Carr is required to remain in the United States for the NBA's mandatory rookie orientation, which overlaps with Doncic's Slovenia gathering. His absence is therefore unrelated to any decision by Carr or the Lakers.

Doncic takes over Lakers leadership role
The gathering represents another example of Luka taking on a larger leadership role following LeBron James' departure from Los Angeles.
James had previously organized offseason Lakers minicamps, often in Las Vegas, but Doncic is now putting his own spin on the tradition by bringing his teammates to his home country.
The Lakers have undergone significant roster turnover heading into the new season, making the Slovenia trip an opportunity for players to become familiar with one another well before training camp officially begins.
