Pre Season Friendlies Wins for Arsenal Liverpool and Newcastle Women

Pre-season friendlies this midweek have brought victories for Arsenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle Women.
Newcastle United defeated Manchester United 1-0 on Wednesday, August 19, in a behind-closed-doors friendly at La Manga.
Kathleen McGovern grabbed a late breakthrough with a close-range volley in the dying minutes.
Arsenal secured a 2-1 win over Manchester City in another behind-closed-doors match.
Stina Blackstenius headed the opener, Lauren Hemp leveller for City, but Lisa Baum restored the advantage.
Liverpool claimed a 4-0 win over Birmingham City at Knighthead Performance Centre, scoring twice in each half.
Cornelia Kapocs and Ceri Holland found the net before the break, with Mao Itamura and Zara Shaw each adding a goal in the second half.
On Friday, 21 August, Aston Villa will face Lyon at 11am, again behind closed doors.
