Joe Rodon has committed his long term future to Leeds United after agreeing a new four-year contract at the club. Previously under contract until the summer of 2028, this is effectively a two-year extension but on better terms for the player with a new deal that takes him until the end of the 2029/30 season.
The move is a just reward for the defender, who has enjoyed an impressive pre-season on the back of becoming a dependable presence in Daniel Farke's side.
The Wales international, tagged 'Joe Salah' by Farke this summer after a display in which he went marauding forward like the Egyptian superstar, is now a key part of the Whites' outfit.
Arriving initially on a loan from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, his permanent arrival a year later saw him play in all 46 Championship games for Leeds as they won promotion to the Premier League with a club-record points haul. Returning to the top-flight again, he looked every part a Premier League player once again last season, and there is hope he will make an even bigger mark this season as part of a new-look team.
Ina statement Leeds said; "Leeds United are delighted to announce Joe Rodon has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract, running until the summer of 2030.
"Away from the pitch, Joe’s professionalism and dedication to engaging with the important community work delivered by the Leeds United Foundation has been terrific, attending a number of events and raising spirits across West Yorkshire. We are incredibly pleased Joe has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club and we are now excited to see him continuing to excel as a Leeds United player."
Rodon's new deal will be a further welcome boost as Leeds look to add to their squad before the transfer window closes in less than two weeks. The Whites have already added James Trafford, Harry Wilson, Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muharemovic to the squad this summer.
