Galatasaray have become the latest club to show interest in Alexander Sorloth, who has long been on Newcastle United’s shopping list, as reported by Sporten.
Sorloth remains one of the finest strikers in Europe, and the Norwegian is often among the leading players in Spain.
He came off the bench in most matches for Atletico Madrid last season, yet he still scored some important goals for them and remains one of their top players.
The Spanish side would love to keep him, but with interest in his signature growing, they could allow him to leave this summer.
Galatasaray Target Sorloth
Sorloth has been a fine servant for Atletico Madrid, and he would love to move to Newcastle and become the latest Norway star to play in the English top flight.
However, Newcastle are not the only club interested in a move for him. The attacker is now one of the strikers Galatasaray want to sign, amid reports that Victor Osimhen is in talks to join Arsenal.
The Turkish champions see Sorloth as a potential replacement for Osimhen if the Nigerian leaves the club. His experience in Spain and his ability to score important goals have made him an attractive option for a side that could soon need to find a new main striker.
Newcastle Face Fresh Competition
Osimhen remains Galatasaray’s main man, but his possible departure would force the club to find another striker capable of leading their attack. Sorloth could fit that role, giving the Turkish champions another option as they prepare for the possibility of losing their leading forward.
The Norway star might prefer to move to a bigger league, particularly with Newcastle also interested in his signature. A return to England would give him another opportunity to establish himself in the English top flight while taking on a new challenge.
However, Galatasaray could still make their interest serious by offering him a contract that makes sense. If they can convince Sorloth that their project is right for him, they could challenge Newcastle for his signature.
