Former Kenya national team captain Victor Wanyama has made a bold prediction for the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, tipping his former club Tottenham Hotspur to lift the league title. Wanyama’s forecast stands in stark contrast to Opta’s Supercomputer, which named defending champions Arsenal as favorites with a 38% probability, while offering Spurs significantly lower odds after a difficult previous season.
Tottenham experienced a tumultuous 2025/26 season, narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day with a 1–0 win over Everton to finish two points above the drop zone. However, Wanyama believes the squad’s harrowing experience, combined with the leadership of manager Roberto De Zerbi, has forged the hunger required to compete at the top. In his top-three forecast, Wanyama placed Manchester City in second place and predicted Arsenal would slide to third. Despite City losing the Community Shield 3–0 to Arsenal and adapting to life after Pep Guardiola under new head coach Enzo Maresca, Wanyama expects the Manchester club to gel quickly. Conversely, he foresees a tougher campaign for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, who recently added Bruno Guimaraes and Piero Hincapie, as the title race grows increasingly competitive across the league.
