The 27-year-old arrives at the **London Stadium** having shone in the **Sky Bet Championship** with **Swansea City** and **Leeds** previously, scoring more goals than any other player in the division with 73 since his debut campaign in 2021/22.
The deal will become permanent if _the Hammers_ secure a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, with the move for the new number nine potentially totalling to £12 million if such an objective is achieved.
Rumours of **Piroe** heading to **east London** intensified ahead of their clash with Burnley after a deal broke down to sign AZ Alkmaar striker **Troy Parrott**, who is set to complete a move to Real Betis.
Settling down in Swansea kickstarts career

The Dutch-born striker began his footballing journey at **PSV Eindhoven**, where he signed on professional terms in November 2016 and went on to make 11 appearances for the first-team.
However, his pathway to a starring role in the side was blocked by the wealth of talent ahead of him so he decided to depart his home country for Swansea ahead of the 2021/22 campaign for a fee rising to £2 million.
An unknown quantity upon his arrival, Piroe began his _Swans_ career like a house on fire with six goals in his first eight starts and a vital cog of **Russell Martin’s** pressing machine.

Proof that Piroe wasn’t a one-season wonder was provided in the subsequent campaign with 20 goals in all competitions as he played a key role in finishing just three points off the play-off places.
Flourishing in front of goal in Yorkshire

Failing to secure promotion to the **Premier League** meant Piroe was unsurprisingly a man of heavy interest, with top-flight sides including **Leicester City**, **Everton** as well as **Atalanta** in the race for his signature in the summer of 2023.
However, he opted to join Swansea’s divisional rivals, Leeds, following their relegation to the second tier. Piroe played a crucial role in their run to the play-off final, where Southampton defeated them, thanks to his 13 goals.
His second season at **Elland Road** was where he really caught fire, striking a formidable partnership with new _Hammers_ forward **Manor Solomon**, as they hit the 100-point mark to clinch the Championship title.

Racking up his best stats in front of goal in his career with 19 goals and seven assists, Piroe also clinched the **Golden Boot** and was hopeful of replicating such a successful campaign in their return to the Premier League.
However, the arrival of **Dominic Calvert-Lewin** restricted his game time last season and he was limited to just 16 appearances, most of which were from the bench, with the ex-Everton striker’s frightening form keeping Piroe out of the side.
Ready to deliver promotion

Nevertheless, Piroe will be hoping to rediscover his best form at **West Ham** and **the Netherlands** youth international expressed his joy in signing on the dotted line.
“It’s a joy to have got everything over the line,” he said.
“I’m delighted to be here and I’m ready to go - I see West Ham as a Club that really wants to be in the Premier League and I think should be in the Premier League.
“With my experience, I think I can help the Club a lot to achieve what they want to achieve and I think it’s a good opportunity for me to show what I’ve learnt and how I’ve grown as a football player over the years.
“Nils (Koppen) and Nuno have both been very clear about what the goals for the Club are, both in the short term and in the long term.
“They talked to me about how they see the team being set up and it felt like a good match for me.
“I’m just really looking forward to joining the group and working with the other guys on the grass.”
