Triple Leeds United injury update as Daniel Farke provides Gabriel Gudmundsson latest ahead of…

Leeds United’s 2026/27 season kicks off in just two days and Daniel Farke will hold his first pre-game press conference of the campaign this afternoon.

The Whites head to Nottingham Forest on Saturday looking to enjoy another fast start, having beaten Everton 1-0 this time 12 months ago. There is a real feeling of optimism around Elland Road after last season’s 14th-place finish and an encouraging summer of recruitment.

Expect that transfer business to be front and centre of today’s press conference, particularly the arrival of Nico Elvedi on Wednesday. The 29-year-old spent one season playing under Farke at Monchengladbach and we’ll get an idea today whether he’ll be available to feature at Forest.

Elvedi could be one of four new Leeds signings to make their competitive debut at the City Ground with Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford all likely to start. There has also been some major news among the mainstays of the squad which will be discussed today.

On Wednesday evening, Leeds confirmed the signing of a new four-year contract for centre-back Joe Rodon, with Jayden Bogle also penning terms until 2030 earlier this morning. Expect Farke to speak on both players, who have been absolutely crucial to his side’s recent success.

There are just 12 days left for Leeds to conclude their transfer business with reinforcements needed across multiple positions including striker, left-wing and goalkeeper. Expect Farke to be quizzed on what’s to come between now and September 1, although how much he decides to say is another matter.

Where Farke will likely be more happy to speak is injuries with Gabriel Gudmundsson, Willy Gnonto and Ilia Gruev all missing last weekend’s final pre-season friendly win over Augsburg. The former is widely expected to miss out this weekend but we’ll get an update on all three today.

Hosts Forest will also be on the agenda with new manager Oliver Glasner taking charge of his first competitive game on Saturday. And with this being Farke’s first pre-game press conference ahead of the new season, we can expect the Leeds boss to speak about his ambitions for what looks set to be an exciting campaign.

Daniel Farke is due to speak with the media at 1.30pm. Stay tuned for live updates...
