The EFL campaign is well underway, with Pompey kick-starting the new season with a 3-1 defeat to QPR last Saturday.

Although Terry Devlin fired the Blues into an early lead, the Hoops responded in quick succession through an Ilias Chair double and a Koki Saito effort before the break.
Attention now turns to this weekend’s trip to newly-promoted Lincoln City, with both sides eyeing maximum points after opening-day defeats.

But as the new season gets underway, a host of former Pompey players are still searching for new clubs - including forgotten striker Jordy Hiwula.
The 31-year-old is on the hunt for a fresh start after being released by National League outfit Boston United at the end of last term, despite enjoying his best campaign in front of goal since 2019.
He netted eight goals in all competitions for the Pilgrims, who finished 12th in the fifth tier of English football but departed at the end of his one-year deal.
Former Pompey & Coventry City mans to PFA in search for new club
Hiwula has subsequently turned to the PFA (Professional Footballers' Association) to aid his search for a new club by signing up to their summer training camp for out-of-contract members.
The 10-week programme is based at Champney’s Springs in Leicestershire, which is now in its third year, offers access to spa and gym facilities, strength and conditioning sessions, training and weekly matches against EFL opposition.
It’s the second year the striker has signed up to the camp, having been a regular fixture in 2025 after a year-long absence without a club.
He links up with former Pompey quartet Tom McIntyre, who despite having a trial with Blackpool has also returned to the programme, and Anthony Scully, Omar Bogle and Andre Green and Arvin Appiah.
Hiwula becomes the latest player to join the ex-Fratton Park contingent to take part in the pre-season programme, which has also been utilised by Tyler Walker, Ben Close, John Marquis, James Bolton, Lee Evans and Josh Oluwayemi.
Hiwula will now be hoping to keep his fitness up should clubs come calling following his National League exit earlier this summer as he likes to revive his career.

Hiwula, who came through the ranks at Manchester City, had appeared for Yeovil, Walsall, Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, Bradford City, Fleetwood Town and Coventry Coventry prior to his arrival at Fratton Park in October 2020.
Recruited on a free transfer by Kenny Jackett, there was plenty of expectation among fans that the forward would continue his impressive goal-scoring record seen with the Sky Blues.
However, the frontman struggled for league appearances on the south coast and failed to score in any of his nine League One outings under both Jackett and Danny Cowley
He totalled just three goals, of which all came in cup competitions, during his one-year stay on the south coast before being released in the major summer overhaul in 2021.
Following his exit, the England youth international struggled to reignite his form with Doncaster Rovers, Ross County and Morecambe - scoring two league goals in three years.
After a 13-month stay without a club, Hiwula joined Boston United in August 2025 and went on to enjoy his best goal-scoring campaign in seven seasons prior to his departure in May.
