Leeds United have confirmed three new contracts for players this summer, and Daniel Farke expects another announcement soon.
The Whites are finally back in action this weekend with Premier League football getting underway with a trip to Nottingham Forest.
In the background, the 49ers are working hard to complete Daniel Farke’s squad with necessary business both in signings and retention.
Leeds United tie down Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle after Ethan Ampadu contract extensions
Early in the summer window, Leeds confirmed a new long-term contract for club captain and vital midfielder Ethan Ampadu.
That has very recently been followed by back-to-back announcements midway through this week. Following Ampadu first was countryman and the other half of the double act, Joe Rodon. The Wales international has been tied down until 2030.
Now, Jayden Bogle has been confirmed as signing an identical contract extension until 2030 too. It sees Leeds confirm three curcial players from our time in the Championship with new long-term contracts. In turn, that should ward off any potential suitors.
Daniel Farke teases new Leeds United contract extension for mystery player
There are multiple players, though, with contracts that could do with some attention. Ilia Gruev, Wrexham target Lukas Nmecha, and Brenden Aaronson are amongst those in the final year of their contracts.
Ahead of our trip to the City Ground on Saturday, Farke teased the likelihood that there will be a third contract announcement in the coming days.
“We only announce it once there is a signature. We want to keep our best players,” Farke said, per the YEP. “Ethan, Joe, Jayden extended. Perhaps something will happen in the upcoming days, I’m carefully optimistic but I can’t announce it yet.”
Given the players that could be in line for contracts, and the list of expiring deals above, my money would be on Brenden Aaronson.
The American had his best career season to date last term. He proved to be an integral presence in our survival bid. With his contract expiring and very little speculation to suggest he’ll follow Pascal Struijk in leaving with 12 months on his deal, he looks like an obvious extension to me.
