Newcastle have plenty of attacking options for Sunday's game with Liverpool, but who should start the Premier League opener?

New players, a new head coach, and a new formation - there will be plenty fo Newcastle United fans to get their head around when they take on Liverpool at St James' Park on Sunday.
Matthias Jaissle has stuck with the 4-2-3-1 set-up throughout pre-season, which suggests we could be in line to see a new-look attacking line-up against the Reds this weekend.
The German has plent of attacking options at his disposal . . . the big question is who gets the nod to start. There are four wingers desperate for a first-team place in Harvey Barnes and Bazoumana Toure on the left, and Anthony Elanga and Jacob Murphy on the right, while the central roles are hotly contested.
Nick Woltemade prefers the No 10 position, but has he done enough to earn a start, while Will Osula and Yoane Wissa are hungry for goals.
It's a dilemma Jaissle will soon have to solve, but here's what our team of NUFC writers would do for Sunday's game.

I would love to see Newcastle make the most of their height, with Nick Woltemade just behind William Osula and some pace and guille out wide with Bazoumana Toure and Anthony Elanga.
We all know what Anthony Elanga can bring to the party on his day as he showed at the World Cup and Bazoumana Toure has impressed me in pre-season.
Elanga will bring the experience and guile, while Toure can offer some surprises as Premier League defences get used to the ex-Bundesliga man.
Woltemade has operated just behind a striker before and done OK, but it would be great to see William Osula get his chance to lead the line. So can both get their chance in a 4-2-3-1 formation?
It is all about solutions and giviing things a try but new boss Matthias Jaissle has more options than you think with Harvey Barnes still around and Yoane Wissa as a back-up option.
My forward line: Toure, Woltemade, Osula, Elanga

It's pretty clear from Matthias Jaissle's first four matches in charge that the German will be using a 4-2-3-1 formation with natural wingers.
Anthony Elanga has had an excellent pre-season and is surely favourite to start on the right-wing ahead of Jacob Murphy, of whom doubts remain over his long term future at St James' Park.
There is a real 50/50 battle on the left where Harvey Barnes guarantees goals but Bazoumana Toure is absolutely electric. I think Newcastle may be best served starting Toure and utilising Barnes as a goalscoring impact substitute.
The problem with playing 4-2-3-1 is that Newcastle don't have a natural number 10. Nick Woltemade has struggled in the role over the summer and Joe Willock has played there but is likely to leave the club in the next couple of weeks.
I would have liked to have seen Jacob Ramsey feature in the role in pre-season as I think he has something to offer further forward but on the evidence of what we have seen, I think Yoane Wissa is the strongest option to play behind Will Osula.
Both men have looked sharp and eventually should battle it out for the forward role, in the hope Newcastle sign a proper, quality number 10 option. But in the meantime I feel like that is the best way for the Magpies to line up.
My forward line: Elanga, Wissa, Toure; Osula

With Matthias Jaissle's preference, it seems, for a 4-2-3-1 formation, he has plenty options for that Fab Front Four. Whether he can nail the best line-up this early in his tenure remains to be seen.
Harvey Barnes is one who really should be starting. He offers a goal threat that few others possess in that Newcastle team, second top scorer behind Anthony Gordon who has left the club. The only issue is he's best on the left, as is Bazoumana Toure who has looked electric since joining.
Barnes could be crowbarred on to the right wing ahead of Anthony Elanga and Jacob Murphy but Jaissle hasn't used him in that position yet. Elanga seems in pole position - as does William Osula for the No 9 role, despite a lack of goals. I'd personally go with Yoane Wissa, though, against Liverpool.
As for the No 10, Wissa and Nick Woltemade have both played there but my pick would be a player who hasn't been selected in that position yet - Jacob Ramsey. He would add a bit more depth to the midfield as well as an eye for a pass.
My forward line: Elanga, Ramsey, Barnes; Wissa

Newcastle's lack of an out-and-out goalscorer will cost them dearly this season, I fear, but they do have some exciting attacking talent, especially on the flanks.
While Anthony Elanga has done well in pre-season, I would like to see Bazoumana Toure given a chance on the left, which means switching Harvey Barnes to the right flank.
Yoane Wissa has to be given an extended run in the team as a No 9 if he is to stand any chance of finding form, but the big question comes in that No 10 role which Matthias Jaissle likes to employ.
For me, the outstanding candidate is Jacob Ramsey. He has struggled to carve out a niche in the side so far, but United can unlock his hueg potential by giving him creative responsibility here. That's perhaps harsh on Nick Woltemade, but for me, the big German has not done enough to earn a place.
Bottom line . . . Newcastle need a striker.
