Both Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur kick off their 2026/27 Premier League campaigns on Saturday August 22nd, as Roberto De Zerbi’s side make the trip to West London to face Keith Andrews’ Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Hosts Brentford narrowly missed out on European qualification last season, recording a joint-highest Premier League finish of ninth place.
De Zerbi’s side will be hoping this season features a significant improvement on the last, where the Lilywhites required a final day victory over Everton to survive relegation to the Championship, ending the season in 17th place.
Despite their poor season, Spurs had the better of last season’s contests with the Bees, recording a 2-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December, before the two sides drew 0-0 on New Year’s Day.
Both of last season’s fixtures between the two sides, however, came during Thomas Frank’s tenure as Tottenham Hotspur head coach, with Saturday evening’s contest featuring a first ever matchup between Andrews and De Zerbi.

Brentford
Brentford have no fresh injury concerns from pre-season, with everyone involved in last weekend’s 7-0 friendly win over Eintracht Frankfurt expected to be available again on Saturday evening.
Sepp Van den Berg is unavailable, with head coach Keith Andrews confirming the Dutch centre back will miss the first few weeks of the season with the groin abductor issue that has kept him sidelined during pre-season.

Antoni Milambo has returned to full training as he steps up his recovery from an ACL injury suffered in October but is not ready for first team involvement at this stage.
Fabio Carvalho could make his first competitive appearance since November, with the Portuguese back fit and available after an ACL injury and pushing for inclusion in the matchday squad.

World Cup winner Pedro Porro will be absent from the squad for the season opener, Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed, along with both Micky Van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr.

James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie and summer signing Mateus Fernandes are all fit.
Mohammed Kudus, who has not played since January, is “almost ready” for a return, but unlikely to have any involvement versus Brentford.
Savinho has been rumoured to be undergoing a medical with Spurs on Friday ahead of a potential £75 million move from Manchester City, however with the cut off for registration at midday Friday, it is almost certain he will be ineligible to feature in the season opener.
Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Dejan Kulusevski all remain out with longer term issues.

Fresh off of a campaign in which he won both Brentford’s Supporters’ Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year, Brazilian international striker Igor Thiago will be looking to continue his ruthless goalscoring form from last season.
Thiago has looked sharp in front of goal throughout pre-season, scoring two goals and registering an assist in last Saturday’s 7-0 friendly win over Eintracht Frankfurt, whilst also scoring in a 4-2 win over Stade Rennais the previous weekend.
The 25-year-old scored 25 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions for the Bees last term, with his tally of 22 Premier League goals second only to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

A lot of eyes are bound to be on the performance of Sandro Tonali, with the Italian international midfielder set to make his debut for Spurs after joining for a club-record fee of up to £100 million from Newcastle United this summer.
The 26-year-old has featured in five pre-season friendlies for the Lilywhites, scoring in a 2-1 win over Chelsea in Sydney.
The midfield battle will likely be key to the outcome of Saturday evening’s contest. Tonali is expected to start alongside fellow new signing Mateus Fernandes and Conor Gallagher in midfield, facing up against a Brentford midfield which is likely to also include their new club-record signing Mamadou Sangare, who joined the Bees from RC Lens.
