Alarm bells have certainly been set off by the sales of Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, turning to a rather different tactic this summer.
The squad has been totally rebuilt, and with Eddie Howe now replaced by Matthias Jaissle, the nerves are already kicking in for the 2026-27 campaign.
Keith Wyness told Football Insider back in June that Newcastle's staff had become unhappy with PIF's approach, but the owners are back onside again.
This comes after plans emerged for a brand-new training complex, with the Magpies announcing the purchase of Woolsington Hall in a £190million deal.
Fans claiming that PIF were on their way out have certainly been handed a reality check, while others are still predicting an exit for the Saudi owners.
PIF's stance on selling Newcastle United revealed
PIF continue to be a huge talking point at St James' Park, even with two days remaining until Newcastle's season kicks off against Liverpool.
Sources close to the majority owners have told iNews that there is no prospect of a full sale in the near future, as improvements are made.
In fact, PIF, who bought the Magpies for £350m in 2021, see the club as one of the fund’s best recent investments.
It is believed that the club is now worth six times what the owners bought it for, which insinuates very little reason to sell now, even in a difficult period.
While it is understood that US private equity firms Arctos Partners and KKR have held talks over coming aboard, it is being stressed that a full sale has never been on the table.

It is fair to say that Newcastle supporters are excited about the news, and not just because their players will have access to new facilities.
Many have suggested that being closer to the airport could help with the signing of players, with some hitting back at rumours of PIF leaving as well.

While the move is still years away, with it being planned ahead of the 2029-30 campaign, it is still an important step forward for PIF and Newcastle.
