As Newcastle United prepare to face Liverpool this weekend at St James’ Park, they are missing a couple of key players.
Tino Livramento and Joelinton are both injured, so Newcastle are likely to field an 11 that have never played together before.

Newcastle United
Livramento injured his calf while on international duty with England at the World Cup, and has just returned to training, while Joelinton picked up a muscle injury that saw him miss the last two preseason games.
On Livramento, Matthias Jaissle said: “It’s for sure too early [to say]. He had just one training where he was partially involved, so we need to be smart with his progress now. We need to wait until he is 100% ready.
“He has huge potential and we can’t wait to have him back.”
On Joelinton, Jaissle said: “Yeah, he’s for sure out for a couple of weeks, but I don’t want to go into too much detail, as there will always be specialists involved.
“The medical department is aware of it, we have top staff when it comes to that, and I’m really confident that he’ll be back as soon as possible.”
Livramento’s absence means that new signing Amar Dedić will start at right-back, but Jaissle is “confident that he is ready”.
He said: “Amar is a perfect addition to the squad. He is versatile in his approach and he knows the playing style due to our time together at Salzburg which is always beneficial when you don’t have much time to train together.
“New signings need to adapt and that will be the same for Amar. I am confident he is ready.”
Newcastle have no other injury concerns at time of writing.
Liverpool
Liverpool have a lot of injury concerns going into this game. Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, and Giovanni Leoni are all out with long-term injuries.
Joe Gomez will miss out after suffering an injury in preseason, and striker Jayden Danns, who has a hamstring issue, will not be risked.
Midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has a muscle problem and will not feature. Victor Muñoz, who turned down a move to Newcastle during the World Cup, has recovered from an injury sustained at the World Cup but is doubtful as he is short of match fitness.
Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has missed all of preseason and may not make the bench.
