Ipswich Town had been given hope in their pursuit of Stade Rennais forward Breel Embolo, however, the Switzerland international now looks to be heading to the MLS. As per a report from **[Ouest-France](https://www.ouest-france.fr/sport/football/stade-rennais/mercato-stade-rennais-francfort-pousse-pour-lilian-brassier-atlanta-united-attend-breel-embolo-ea6ab830-9d63-11f1-a8ad-3219df531147),** the striker’s move to Atlanta United has moved one step closer.
It was reported by **L’Équipe** earlier in the week that Embolo had turned down the chance to join the US club. It was a decision amid interest from newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town. However, **Ouest-France** understands that Embolo has now travelled to the US where he will complete a move to Atlanta United, currently bottom of the Eastern Conference.
The Breton club, the publication adds, will receive a €17m fee for the former AS Monaco forward, who only joined from the Principality club last summer. Just one year into his four-year deal, he is on the verge of an exit. The move will be one of the five most expensive transfers in MLS history, should it be completed.
