Bradley Barcola has been admired by Liverpool's transfer chiefs throughout the summer, and there appears to be a new update on the Frenchman

Bradley Barcola has been excluded from Paris Saint-Germain's first league match of the new campaign. Liverpool have been linked with the Frenchman all summer.

He was omitted from Luis Enrique's squad's recent Trophee des Champions defeat to fierce rivals Lens before the start of the campaign. Despite the reigning Champions League holders drawing a blank in their 1-0 loss to Lens, Barcola has been left out of their squad again.

PSG have been demanding £145million for his signature, a fee Liverpool are not believed to be willing to meet. In and amongst the transfer toing and froing, Barcola has been left out of PSG's fixtures again.

Fellow Liverpool target Ibrahim Mbaye is similarly expected to be absent for PSG. The 18-year-old has attracted attention from across Europe, with Bayer Leverkusen among those showing a keen interest.

"We always remain open to possibilities, right up to the last day," PSG manager Luis Enrique said when quizzed on potential transfers.

"So far, I think we've signed some very good players to give us even more options to try and win. That's what motivates us, and I'm very happy with what we've done so far."

PSG have brought in Maghnes Akliouche, Mika Godts and Ferran Torres during the summer window, while offloading Goncalo Ramos and Lee Kang-in. Prior to PSG's UEFA Super Cup victory over Aston Villa, Enrique was pressed on Barcola's future but remained tight-lipped.

"I don't know and I don't want to speak about any player individually," he insisted. "Because it's always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player. I stay focused on my team."

Iraola recently made it clear his side is in need of more wingers. He said: "In terms of what we need, there are certain situations that, for me, are clear, especially on the wing because we do not have enough players able to play in those positions.

"Beyond those positions, I think we have to be open-minded in the market and look at situations that can improve our team. It is not about signing a player because we need someone in a particular position.

"No. It is about improving the squad. We have very good players already here, so to improve, you need a specific level of player."
