Jamie Carragher was quick to reference his Manchester United comments after their loss to Hull on Saturday with a witty post on his social media.
Michael Carrick enjoyed an impressive interim spell last season, which saw United rise up to third and secure a Champions League spot. Among his landmark results was a win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils' renaissance last term, coupled with some of their midfield signings in the form of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, has seen plenty tip United to secure another top four finish. Some have gone as far as to back them to finish second behind Arsenal.
Carragher felt some of the fanfare was over the top and claimed: "People are getting very carried away with Man United. People are putting them second and third, honestly. Man United's back four is the same back four they had five years ago."

The former Liverpool man had his usual back and forth with Sky Sports colleague Gary Neville but, in the aftermath of United's loss at the MKM Stadium to newly promoted Hull, Carragher used a GIF to highlight his comments from Friday night.
Neville had claimed that United were in a better place than Liverpool, but Carragher suggested that Liverpool's starting XI would still be better than their rivals. Both Neville and Carragher will have to give their Premier League predictions on Monday Night Football, which they do annually, but the latter will likely poke fun at Neville over the result.
United were heavy favourites going into Saturday's lunchtime kick-off by were 2-0 down by half-time. They struggled to offer anything in the second-half and returned to Manchester with no points and no goals after a thoroughly underwhelming performance.

Carrick said on their performance: "It was never going to be perfect today but I think going behind and giving ourselves a lot to do makes it more difficult, probably a typical one of those games of a newly promoted team at home.
"You can't give them much, they've got a lot to hold on to, and then after that, we had moments, we had opportunities, we just didn't have that spark to then put the chances away or create any more. Listen, we're bitterly disappointed with the result today but it won't knock us.”
