Tottenham are eyeing a replacement for Djed Spence.
Tottenham Hotspur have overhauled their defensive unit this summer. After signing Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke, the club bosses have offloaded several defenders.
Radu Dragusin left on a season-long loan to Fiorentina, while fellow centre-backs Cristian Romero, Luka Vuskovic and Ashley Phillips have been sold. Djed Spence has also left the club to join Inter Milan for a fee of €30million, with the North Londoners negotiating a 10 per cent sell-on clause into the deal.
Inter Milan were on the search for a wing-back after Denzel Dumfries’ departure to Real Madrid. Eventually, they settled for Spence, whose exit has left a void in the Tottenham squad for Roberto De Zerbi to address before the transfer window slams shut.

Rightly so, the Lilywhites are reportedly looking at full-back options to replace Spence. Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs revealed earlier this month that Tottenham are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Munoz.
Daniel Munoz has been a consistent performer for Crystal Palace since joining from Genk in January 2024. The 30-year-old has made 108 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 11 goals, whilst not being defensively slouch. Now, Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke feels the Colombian international will have second thoughts about joining Spurs as he would not be a guaranteed starter under De Zerbi.
“It’s a difficult one, obviously, for Munoz himself, because if he goes to Spurs, is he going to be playing regularly?” Pete O’Rourke said exclusively on the Transfer Insider podcast (h/t Football Insider).
“Pedro Porro is likely to be the first choice right-back at Tottenham next season, but Spurs are looking to add cover in that position, having sold Djed Spence to Inter Milan.
“Munoz would tick a lot of boxes because he’s Premier League-proven, he’s a player who would definitely add to the attacking options at Spurs. But he’s probably not a top priority for Tottenham right now they’re obviously looking at more attacking areas of the team.
“I’m sure there’ll be interest in Munoz because of what he’s done for Crystal Palace in the Premier League as well but I don’t think it’s a top priority target for Spurs right now.”
Daniel Munoz would be a strong back-up for Pedro Porro
Munoz has turned out to be a fantastic signing for Crystal Palace. Undoubtedly, the Colombian international has been one of the most impressive full-backs in the Premier League in the last two years.
At 30 and in the prime of his career, he would want to play regularly for his club. However, it is worth noting that the Eagles have signed Oscar Mingueza and Anan Khalaili this summer, both of whom play in that right-back/wing-back role. So, Munoz’s position in the first team is not guaranteed under new boss Pierre Sage.
De Zerbi is building something special at Tottenham, as evidenced by the signings the board has made this summer. An experienced player like Munoz might be tempted to become a part of the project, even if his primary job will be to provide back-up to Pedro Porro.
That said, it remains to be seen whether the Hotspur Way chiefs test Palace’s resolve for their rampaging full-back, as going into the new campaign without sufficient back-up to Porro would be extremely risky.
