Earlier this week, a stunning bid to sign Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk was lodged by the 49ers.
The 25-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball competitively since his doping ban was confirmed in November 2024 (now rescinded), and leaves the speedy winger needing a fresh opportunity to get back to playing.
United made an opening loan approach to the Stamford Bridge club, which was rejected. However, it was also claimed that talks between the two clubs are ongoing, indicating that there’s willingness from the player and club to loan him to Leeds on the right terms.

Again, Leeds’ opening talks and a formal offer to Chelsea strongly suggests Mudryk himself is keen on Elland Road. Gone are the days where clubs would reach an agreement and then the player enters discussions. It’s much more probable that Leeds have received indication from Mudryk’s camp that he’s open to a move here, hence our talks with Chelsea.
And, that stands to reason with new reports revealing Mudryk’s stance on where he wants to play.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea want to send Mudryk to (you’re not going to believe this) Strasbourg. But, the player wants to remain in the Premier League.
“There is an offer from Leeds United, rejected by Chelsea, but Leeds are still there. Leeds are pushing to sign Mudryk. Mudryk wants to stay in the Premier League,” Romano said on YouTube.
“So, let’s see what Chelsea decide, for a few days, they were suggesting Strasbourg as a solution for Mudryk, but the player prefers the Premier League.”

I might be in something of a minority here, but I thought Brenden Aaronson did reasonably well against Forest. He carried it fairly well and looked a fluid part of our attack.
That being said, asking him to offer what Noah Okafor does is such a huge ask. The Swiss winger has explosive pace that no one else in our side can match on the ball, not even Dan James.
So, when he’s not fit enough to start, we lack a really vital facet to our attacking play and look much easier to defend.
Therefore, someone like Mudryk makes perfect sense for Leeds. If we get him up to his peak form, we have a terrific asset on our hands. The only concern is that ‘if’. It’s so difficult to gauge where his fitness and match sharpness is after so long on the sidelines.
Mudryk is the mould of winger we need. Whether it’s him or someone of a similar ilk, it would make a huge difference.
