Brisbane Roar have signed former Paris Saint-Germain striker Virgiliu Postolachi ahead of the 2026-27 A-League Men season.
Moldova international Postolachi joins Brisbane on a two-year deal from Romanian top-flight club Universitatea Cluj.
The 26-year-old played youth and reserve team football for French juggernaut PSG, where he first arrived in 2013.
A two-time Under-17 championship winner with Les Parisiens who signed a pro contract in 2018, he did not make a competitive appearance but did score a stunning last-gasp winner for Thomas Tuchel’s men in an International Championship Cup clash with LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid as an 18-year-old eight years ago.
At the time, PSG’s squad boasted Neymar, Gianluigi Buffon, Marco Verratti and Thiago Silva among others.
“I’m excited to be joining Brisbane Roar and for the new challenge of playing in Australia,” said Postolachi.
“I’m hungry and ready to give my all for the club and it’s fans who look forward to meeting very soon.”
Postolachi’s CV also includes a stint with French Ligue 1 outfit Lille in 2019 before making his senior debut for Belgian club Royal Excel Mouscron in August 2020.
The 37-time Moldova international has also spent time with UTA Arad, Grenoble and CFR Cluj, where he won silverware.
“Virgiliu’s signing brings the team a striker who can play with his back to goal, wins the ball in the air, and gives us a way of attacking heading into the season,” said Brisbane’s sporting director James Gow.
“He’s already shown he can score in European football and we’re very confident he can help the squad continue to build in the right direction as we inch closer to the start of the 2026-27 season.”
Postolachi is the Roar’s latest new signing after Marko Ilic, Tom Aldred, Tate Russell, Joel King, Sabit Ngor, Jacob Nasso, Emin Durakovic, Nam Tae-hee and Max Court, while Emmett Shaw, Archie Mitchell, George Plusnin and Oscar Page have also been promoted.
