BCFC will be keen to claim their first win at St. Andrew’s this season at the second time of asking against Brentford. Their home form in the previous campaign was amongst the best in the Championship and they will be looking for this to continue into the 2026/27 season.

Meanwhile, Brentford travel to the Second City brimming with confidence. The Bees defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 this weekend as the Premier League got underway. Goals from Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt and Michael Kayode ensured Keith Andrews oversaw an impressive opening day victory.
Last season, Brentford made it to the quarter final stages of the Carabao Cup before being knocked out by the eventual winners Manchester City. They will be keen to head into the deep stages of the competition once again.

“In terms of the Premier League sides who are entering the competition at this stage, Birmingham City couldn’t have been given a much tougher draw.
“Brentford eased past Spurs on the opening day and sent a real statement. Even if Keith Andrews puts out a rotated team on Tuesday night, they still had the likes of Callum Wilson, Jaidon Anthony and Mikkel Damsgaard to call upon from the bench on Saturday evening.

“St Andrew’s has been a fortress since Chris Davies took charge, and last season they took Leeds United all the way to penalties in the FA Cup, so BCFC can give Premier League sides a tough afternoon if they can fire themselves up.
“I suspect Davies will give the likes of Patrick Roberts the opportunity to showcase why they deserve more minutes in the league campaign. Blues will make it a tough night for The Bees, but ultimately Brentford’s quality will come through.”

“Some of the players on the fringes of Birmingham City’s squad will hope to impress here. They’ll be up against a rotated team as well, giving them scope to pull off a bit of an upset against one of the Premier League opening weekend’s standout performers.
“BCFC have shown a bit more steel in their opening league games, first to keep a clean sheet at Sheffield United before a late equaliser against Bristol City. If they can keep this, and add a bit more creative spark in the final stages of the transfer window, they can improve this year.
“The Bees are not to be overlooked though, and it feels like everyone knows that now. They’re an excellent side that seems to get the job done almost regardless of who is on the pitch.
