Leeds United beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground on Saturday to open their Premier League campaign with all three points.
Anton Stach scored late from a free-kick to break Forest’s hearts and ensured Leeds scored an early win away from home this season after struggling on the road last year.

EFL announcement ahead of Forest vs Leeds United
The EFL has appointed experienced referee Andrew Kitchen to take charge of the EFL Cup second round clash between Nottingham Forest and Leeds at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
Mark Stevens and Alex James will take charge of the touchlines, while Stephen Parkinson will serve as the fourth official.
VAR will not be in use at this stage of the competition.
So far this season, the referee has taken charge of two Championship games, including the recent meeting between West Ham and Charlton, where Leeds loanee Joel Piroe scored his first goal for the Hammers.
The upcoming EFL Cup tie will be only the third time Kitchen has officiated a game involving Leeds. He previously took charge of Leeds’ 2023/24 Championship trip to Huddersfield Town, which ended in a draw.
The following season, he was in the middle for Leeds’ trip to Middlesbrough, where Daniel James’ early goal secured an important three points as Farke’s side pushed towards promotion.
Forest, meanwhile, have only played once under Kitchen’s watch. That came in an FA Cup tie against Exeter City in February 2025, which Forest eventually won on penalties.

What team will Farke field on Tuesday night?
The Leeds manager will almost certainly rotate his squad against Forest as he will want to rest some of his top players, even this early in the season.
Sean Longstaff and Ao Tanaka are almost certain to start, while Wilfried Gnonto is expected to get an opportunity to impress against Forest in the cup game.
He is unlikely to change his goalkeeper as Lucas Perri is on his way out, and Alex Cairns is not good enough to start for Leeds, even in a cup game.
Nico Elvedi is likely to get his first start since joining Leeds after making a substitute appearance against Forest on Saturday.
