Ipswich Town’s Dutch goalkeeper Kayne Van Oevelen has touched down in Spain ahead of a season long loan move to Valencia . He landed into Manises Sunday morning where he is set to undergo a medical with the La Liga side.
Loan Move Back on Track
The 23-year-old was orginally meant to arrive into Valencia last Wednesday but the reports coming out of Spain suggested that Ipswich delayed the move due to concerns over an injury elsewhere in the goalkeeping department but manager Gary O’Neil dimissed that claim duing his Firday press conference, insisting there were no hiddden issues that was affecting the deal.
He joined ipswich earlier in the window for £3.4 million, signing a five-year contract as part of the club’s long-term planning in the goalkeeping department. His arrival was followed by the interest from Valencia who had attempted to sign him permanemtyly before Town secured his signature. Although all personal terms were agreed at the time the Spanish side were unable to reach a fee with Volendam
Van Oevelen Speaks on Valencia Opportunity
As soon as he landed in Spain he spoke to reporters at the airport expressing his exictement about the move and the chance to work under Carlos Corberán
“I’m very happy to be here,” he told as.com. “Valencia is a great club. I have spoken to [head coach Carlos] Corberán and he has conveyed confidence to me. I hope to help the team.”
This season-long loan will help Van Oevelen with his development and get regular minutes for the La Liga side which Ipswich was keen to give him
Walton’s Return Opens the Door
Ipswich did intially planned for Van Oevelen to go out on loan to a Championship club but with Christian Walton’s foot injury meant that the plans was temportarily halted but with Walton now fit as he was named on the bench for Saturday’s Premier League opener against Sunderland means that Town was able to progress the Valencia deal for Van Oevelen.
