Unsurprisingly after only finishing sixth in the last season's Championship, the Tigers have been widely tipped for Premier League relegation this summer, and whilst one result, however promising, proves nothing, it might at least have given people pause for thought about the play-off winners' prospects.
Jakirovic went into Saturday's game still looking for two centre-forwards and two wingers, and came out of it wondering if he might need more defenders as well, depending on the assessment of injuries to the likes of Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy.
But a £13m deal (plus £5m add-ons) for Nice centre-forward Mohamed-Ali Cho is believed to be close, and Hull have also been linked with versatile Union Berlin forward Ilyas Ansah.
Getting deals over the line has not been easy for Hull this summer, but their coach expects that to change now.
"They will come 100 per cent now," he said Jakirovic. "I don't have any doubts.
"I was in a similar position last season. I tried to explain to some people, some players chose other clubs, and then they joined us in January, if you remember.
"They will come."

Jakirovic himself is close to agreeing a new, improved three-year contract after leading the Tigers to promotion in his first season in English football.
The former Bosnia international signed a two-year deal when he joined from Kayserispor last summer.
