Hull City have been linked with an 11th hour move for Stoke player of the year Sorba Thomas. Sky Sports are reporting that Hull have been turned down with a bid that could rise to £7m. The Sentinel understands that falls way below Stoke's valuation of a player who has cemented his reputation as one of the most influential wingers in the Championship over the last 12 months.
It would take a monster offer to get Stoke to the negotiating table for the Wales international at this stage of the summer. The window closes a week tomorrow and Stoke are already believed to be keen on bringing in another winger to add to that stable.
Hull have been demonstrating deep pockets in the last few weeks, however. They have already spent the best part of £90m on new signings, including £17m on Lucas Herrington and £22m on fellow centre-half Nobel Mendy, plus £20m on goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, as they try to give themselves a chance of staying in the Premier League.
They are currently being linked with interest in Real Betis right winger Pablo Garcia plus left-sided duo Niccolo Fortini and Keito Nakamura - and Ryan Giles starred on that side when they won with a wing-back system against Manchester United on the opening day at the weekend. They have Liam Millar and new signing Elliot Stroud as left wing options too.

Thomas joined Stoke from Huddersfield in the summer of 2025 for a fee believed to be about £1.5m. He topped the division's assists charts last season. Stoke and Hull had both explored signing him the previous January when he was on loan at Nantes but the deal was too complicated at that time.
Ironically, Stoke welcome Hull to the bet365 Stadium on Tuesday night for a second round Carabao Cup tie.
