Just in: Leeds table new offer for 'special' forward as stance emrges - Ben Jacobs

Daniel Farke

Leeds United have made a fresh offer to sign Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk on loan, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

The Whites have had an excellent summer window, with Daniel Farke bringing in Harry Wilson, Tarek Muharemovic, James Trafford, and Nico Elvedi, which helped the team pick up a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the Premier League season.

But Daniel Farke is keen to add more to his squad before the transfer window closes next week, and a new forward is understood to be among the priorities.

According to GMS sources, Leeds have made a fresh offer to sign Mudryk in the final days of the transfer window.

Talks between the two clubs had been ongoing over the weekend, with the Yorkshire side having had an offer of a straight loan rejected earlier this month. But a second bid has now also been rejected, and sources understand that Chelsea no longer view Elland Road as a viable destination.

The Ukraine international is back eligible to play first-team football after serving a ban for doping, and he hasn't played for the Blues in a competitive game since November 2024.

But after his case was resolved during the summer, Mudryk has featured for Xabi Alonso's side during pre-season and looked sharp. However, Chelsea already have an abundance of wide options including Pedro Neto, Geovany Quenda, Estevao, Cole Palmer, and Morgan Rogers, which means he is seen as being surplus to requirements currently.

Chelsea and the player have agreed that regular game time away from Stamford Bridge would be beneficial this season, and Leeds have now emerged as a serious option to take him for the campaign.

Strasbourg have also shown an interest in the winger, but Mudryk is understood to prefer to stay in England. With just over a week remaining of the window, the coming days are expected to be crucial to finding an agreement.

Mudryk's absence from football isn't something that has been greatly felt at Stamford Bridge, with the club spending big money to replace him and cover the gap in the squad.

But it's clear that he is still highly-rated in west London, with new manager Alonso hailing him during pre-season after his ban came to an end.

"I remember watching him at Shakhtar, the impact he had, how good he is," he said.

"We were not expecting to have this great news at this moment; we are very happy and we feel he will really help us."
