It’s no secret that Leeds need to invest in signing a backup goalkeeper to James Trafford. The Englishman enjoyed a clean sheet on his league debut for the Whites, but needs someone as cover.
It’s also no secret that Leeds are pushing to complete the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Michael Zetterer too. The 31-year-old German was claimed last week to be closing in on a move to Elland Road, possibly a player on Farke’s recommendation, hailing from the Bundesliga.
On Saturday, it was claimed by Inside Eintracht FFM that the goalkeeper had not turned up for Eintracht’s training, as he boarded a flight to the UK to complete his move to Leeds.
Now, that has been confirmed by Frankfurter Rundschau, who report that the player has indeed travelled to West Yorkshire. They report that United could pay a £4.3million fee to sign the experienced stopper from the Bundesliga club.
However, Christopher Michel (the man to break the news first) has since said that Zetterer is back in training with his club. Thus, the deal may not be as imminent as hoped.

It’s never going to be a signing that gets fans off their seats. A backup goalkeeper is a necessary piece of business at a low cost, and we’re doing just that.
Trafford was very impressive at Forest in my opinion, and hopefully we can provide some experience behind him with Zetterer.
It’s a signing that we aren’t going to see an awful lot of in a Leeds shirt this season. Trafford will play every minute in the league that he’s available for.
But, in signing Zetterer we’ve plugged another gap in the squad and hopefully have successfully overhauled our goalkeeper position.
