Coventry set to sign Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock

Brentford centre-back Ethan Pinnock is poised to become Coventry City's ninth summer signing, with the Sky Blues reportedly agreeing on afee of £6 million.
The 33-year-old centre-back has entered the final year of his contract with the Bees and could be attracted by the prospect of regular first-team football at the CBS Arena.
Why are the Sky Blues interested in signing Pinnock?
While Pinnock's signing will not be viewed as long-term, he would add valuable Premier League experience to the squad, having made 216 appearances for Brentford, including 117 in the top flight. Pinnock has also represented Jamaica in international football, having played 28 matches.
From Pinnock's perspective, his recent game time for the Bees has been limited, featuring just 4 matches last season after losing his place in the first XI, and he will look forward to a new challenge.
This is the Sky Blues' second defensive signing, with Aurèle Amenda joining from Eintracht Frankfurt. The club have also been linked with Manchester City Defender Stephen Mfuni.
Will manager Lampard trim his squad?
It remains to be seen whether Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard trims his squad. What can be said, however, is that City have 5 centre-backs including Bobby Thomas, Joel Latibeaudiere, Liam Kitching, Luke Woolfenden and Aurele Amenda.
With Coventry currently well stocked at centre-back, Lampard is likely to sanction a few departures to ensure players get regular game time. Tomorrow night's lengthy trip to Plymouth Argyle in the Carabao Cup second round presents the ideal opportunity for Lampard to hand minutes to players who may not feature regularly in the Premier League this season, while also allowing potential suitors to assess them ahead of the transfer deadline.
With the club spending over £100 million this summer, owner Doug King has backed Lampard to build a squad capable of extending their stay in the top flight.
