The first weekend of the 2026-27 Premier League season has now ended, and Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have presented their predictions for the campaign.
The Monday Night Football pundits often forecast where they think teams will finish in May on the first show of the season, but they very rarely see eye-to-eye. That was the case once again, as the pair couldn't agree on several clubs when it came to predicting the top six.
Both men have certain loyalties, having played for Manchester United and Liverpool, respectively. But could the one-club legends put their biases aside when it comes to predicting who will end up in the top six spots?

When it comes to the winners, Neville had no doubts when predicting Mikel Arteta's Arsenal to go back-to-back. "100% Arsenal," he said.
The defender-turned-pundit then placed Chelsea second, citing a lack of European football as the reason they will finish above Manchester City, who he thinks will finish third.
He then had to choose between Man Utd and Liverpool for the fourth and fifth places. Neville claimed he couldn't choose, but simply put United ahead of their arch-rivals due to his ties to the club. "I can't separate United and Liverpool in fourth place."

United have dropped a place in his rankings, as Neville admitted he initially had them in third place but has moved Chelsea ahead of both Manchester clubs. He stated: "A couple of weeks ago I had United in third."
Neville backed Brighton for a top six finish. Fabian Hurzeler's men thrashed Aston Villa in their season opener, which may have influenced that prediction.

Carragher, like Neville, has Arsenal to win the Premier League. However, he wasn't as sure until Spanish midfielder Rodri departed Man City to join Barcelona.
The Liverpool icon stated: "A few weeks ago, I thought City might have a chance. But it was all around Rodri. Without Rodri, I just can't see it."

He does still think the Citizens will finish as runners-up again, just ahead of Xabi Alonso's Chelsea. Then he went with the opposite of Neville, with Liverpool in fourth and Man Utd fifth.
Ahead of the Fulham vs Chelsea game, Carragher was heavily critical of Liverpool's performance against Newcastle. He was focused mainly on Florian Wirtz and the midfield, which he thinks will hold the Reds back. "I don't see any way they'd be in the top two or mount a title challenge."
It's then Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham in sixth place, despite a 3-0 hammering against Brentford on the opening weekend. Spurs have spent over £300 million this summer, and are expected to jump from 17th to European contention.
