Blues striker Ali Al-Hamadi is joining League One Sheffield Wednesday on loan for the season.
Earlier this evening it was reported that the 24-year-old was interesting the Owls but that appears to have understated the position with the _[Iraq Football Podcast](https://x.com/IraqFootballPod/status/2091941789510848512)_, which is close to Al-Hamadi, revealing that he is joining the Hillsborough club and that the player is “excited to join a historic club with a huge fan base”.
Three weeks ago, the Iraq international, who hasn’t been given a squad number at Town, was close to joining Polish club Raków Częstochowa on loan before cardiac issues emerged in his medical and the move was called off.
Al-Hamadi spent last season on loan in League One with Luton Town but missed much of the campaign through injury.
For the Blues, Al-Hamadi has made four starts - one in the league - and 25 sub appearances, scoring five times having been signed for an initial fee of around £1 million in January 2024, playing a role in the first Championship promotion under Kieran McKenna.
Two of his Town goals were scored against the Owls as they were thrashed 6-0 at Portman Road in March 2024.
