**In recent days, Crystal Palace have been linked with a £50 million move for West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen.**
The reports have surfaced in [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/40145079/crystal-palace-transfer-bid-jarrod-bowen-west-ham/); they reported that the Eagles are preparing to launch a £50 million bid to lure Jarrod Bowen back to the Premier League.
A lot of other reports, most notably Alex Crook of talkSPORT, have rubbished these rumours, but it has sparked some debate on social media.
With fans still seething after the pathetic 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic on Saturday, this news obviously wasn’t very welcome.
Some fans still angry about the game have said they would accept it, but I think for the majority that was just a heat-of-the-moment comment. Losing Jarrod Bowen in the situation we are in right now would be the worst thing that could happen.
With all the fuss that was made of him staying, the job Daniel Kretinsky did, flying him out to Prague and selling him the dream of doing all they can to get us back to the Premier League, bringing in Premier League-level players so we can return to the top division like we never left, but that hasn’t happened and we’ve got off to an awful start to the season.
Losing Bowen, especially to a team smaller than us, a London rival, at this point of the window would be a complete nightmare even if we got a huge £50 million fee.
Anyway, this is all hypothetical; the only way Palace would go for Bowen is if they sell Sarr, who has interest from Saudi Arabia. That hasn’t happened yet and isn’t very likely, and I doubt they would pay that much for him anyway.
Jarrod Bowen is going to stay at West Ham for one more season at the very least; let’s just hope Jarrod himself, his teammates, and the coaching staff can improve and get us promoted.
