Albion new boy Luka Vuskovic has been hailed as “a winner” by his boss.
But Fabian Hurzeler is keen to give him time to keep improving.
The record signing from Spurs started at centre-back in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa.
It was an impressive Premier League debut including a cross-field pass to unbalance Villa ahead of the third goal.
Asked about the way Vuskovic, 19, adapted to the Prem, Hurzeler said: “I can't say I expected that but I know that he’s quite a mature guy.
“In certain moments, you still see that he wants to play, play, play.
“In certain moments, I think he needs to find more serious solutions.
“He is very young but he adapted quickly to the demands in the Premier League.
“He just has this physicality, he has this personality and his mindset is just outstanding.
“He's a winner and his mentality to improve every day, to listen every day, that's very positive.
“We are quite happy with him. It was a good first start.
“I think it's very important now to stay humble, don't put too much euphoria into him.
“Let him do his work, let him improve, accept also when he does some mistakes. This will be also part of it.
“But hopefully the Premier League also educates him.”

It was not clear how Albion’s back four would have lined up had Ferdi Kadioglu been available.
The Turkey star’s absence with a minor injury led to Olivier Boscagli operating at left-back, with Vuskovic alongside Lewis Dunk in the middle.
Kadioglu is expected to return to the squad for the second leg against Tromso.
Hurzeler said: “He had a minor issue after Tromso, nothing serious, so I expect him to be back on the pitch in the next days.”
