Newcastle United are set for a busy end to the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United are reportedly set to table a ‘take it or leave it’ offer for Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
The Magpies were first linked with the 21-year-old before the World Cup but it has taken until the final week of the summer transfer window for the speculation to ramp up.
Following on from reports in France that Lille had received a £38million offer from Newcastle, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has now claimed Matthias Jaissle’s side have tabled a final bid of £51million.
“EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle United are set to make a final offer for Matias Fernandez-Pardo,” Tavolieri wrote on X. “The Magpies are preparing to submit a final €60M bid including bonuses today to convince Lille. It’s now or never.”
NewcastleWorld understands the Magpies’ interest in Fernandez-Pardo is genuine, with the Belgian international’s versatility a big attraction. Fernandez-Pardo has played left and right wing for Lille, and ended last season playing through the middle.
Fernandez-Pardo joined the French club from Belgian Pro League side Gent in 2024. It remains to be seen if they will sell for less than the £60million asking price they are widely reported to have set.
Last season, Fernandez-Pardo scored eight goals and provided five assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances to earn himself a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad.
Newcastle are hoping to sign more than one player before the window shuts next Tuesday, with a deal for Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez understood to be at an advanced stage.
Gonzalez was keen to stay at the Etihad but has given the green light to move to St James’ Park after he was an unused substitute in Man City’s 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
