Harvey Elliott has been told the perfect club for him to sign for this summer, with a regular role at Liverpool seemingly some way off under new head coach Andoni Iraola

Ally McCoist says Newcastle would be the perfect club for Harvey Elliott to sign for if he leaves Liverpool this summer.
While there has been no movement on an exit so far for Elliott, a move away would appear to be sensible given he has already had one season where he was mainly on the sidelines, put to one side by Unai Emery.
After returning from Aston Villa, Elliott faced a big summer and an opportunity to impress Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot as head coach. But he was left out of the opening weekend's trip to St. James' Park.
"He wouldn’t look out of place in that Newcastle side and Newcastle are looking for players who are (similar to) the players they’ve lost," McCoist said on talkSPORT.
"Obviously, Anthony Gordon would spring to mind. The most important thing, and it’s massively important for Harvey Elliott this season, last season was a write-off. He can’t afford another one like that."
Earlier in the summer, Elliott was honest about what he needs next. The 23-year-old admitted that while he would love to make himself a regular at Liverpool, he might have to accept that something else might suit his career better.

"I'm still wanting to be selfish, doing what's right for me," Elliott said during the U.S. tour. "Whether that's staying here and fighting for my place or potentially going elsewhere, I'm still unsure at the moment until I get some more intel."
Last summer, Elliott was of interest to various clubs, including RB Leipzig, and he was coming off the back of being named the best player at the U21 European Championship.
At that point, a $47 million (£35 million) fee felt on the cheap side for a Premier League-proven player, but a year on, he has barely played and only has one year left on his contract.
Before September 1, when the transfer deadline arrives, a move away feels like the most sensible outcome, even if Liverpool doesn't really have enough depth.

"Definitely," Andoni Iraola replied in July when he was asked if Elliott still had a future at Anfield. "Harvey is here with us. I have seen him with the eagerness to show up, get super ready, he’ll have a chance in pre-season, we’ll need him, and it’s a good sign."
Since then, though, things haven't panned out in the way that the Liverpool ace would have ideally planned.
Liverpool.com says: Elliott is more than good enough to play regularly for a team in the Premier League, but he needs a guarantee of regular minutes. He can't afford another 12 months like the last year.
