Nottingham Forest have now agreed a deal worth up to £50m to sign Chelsea striker Liam Delap, GIVEMESPORT understands.
GMS revealed on Monday that Forest were closing in on a deal to sign the English centre-forward from their Premier League rivals, and they have now reached an agreement in principle for a club-record transfer.
Oliver Glasner is looking to add some more firepower to his squad, especially after the Reds failed to find the net in their opening day 1-0 defeat to Leeds United at the City Ground.
Leeds were one of the other English suitors for Delap, who is keen on the move to link up with Glasner in the Midlands.
The 23-year-old was omitted from Chelsea's squad against Fulham on Monday night, suggesting that a move away from Stamford Bridge was close, with the player expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday.
Forest's previous transfer record was the deal to bring Omari Hutchison to the club from Ipswich Town last summer, in a deal worth £37.5m.
Delap struggled to make an impact for the Blues during the 2025-26 campaign, after joining them from Ipswich Town in a £30m deal last summer.
